This spring's concert by the Headington Singers and Orchestra is a performance of "Elijah" by Felix Mendelssohn. With conductor Sally Mears and leader Janet Froomes, the soloists will be Georgie Malcolm (Soprano), Serena Wagner (Alto), Peter Willis (Tenor), and Will Orr (Bass).

Tickets are available on the door, £12 (£10 concessions, children free)

Mendelssohn's Elijah is justly popular. It has good tunes and beautiful harmonies, and the story it tells of the life of this Old Testament prophet is highly dramatic.  Elijah's extraordinary life included a famine, a battle with priests of the god Baal, a miracle healing, a vengeful queen, a howling mob, an earthquake, much fire, and a manifestation of god as a "still, small voice".  Truly this storypromises to be an exciting evening.
